This will be a big week for activism, all the way to next Saturday’s Women’s March (January 20) so stay tuned.
First, reminder that there will be a poster making party this Sunday, (tomorrow) 1-3PM at the LA Fed office to the left of Vincenzo’s on Lyons. Hope to see you there. Bring poster board and markers for some creative fun.
From National Indivisible –
Congress has seven days to pass the DREAM Act: Funding for the government runs out by the end of next week, on January 19. With Republicans in control of Congress and the White House, it’s on them to put a bill on the floor that can become law. It’s also on them to clean up the mess Trump made when he eliminated the DACA program back in September. 122 DACA recipients continue to lose their protections every single day.
The best way to reject Trump’s racism is to protect the people who he wants to deport. It’s up to Democrats to make sure that Republicans do right by Dreamers. They must take a stand and refuse to vote in favor of any new funding bill that fails to protect Dreamers from deportation.
GREAT NEWS! Our Senators KAMALA HARRIS and DIANNE FEINSTEIN are on board to VOTE NO on a continuing resolution to fund the government unless 45’s foolish and cruel revocation of DACA status is reversed as part of the deal.
They need a ‘thank you’ to encourage continuing leadership on this issue. Call them to say:
I want to thank the Senator for standing strong on making a DACA fix part of the continuing resolution.
Senator Kamala Harris
Congressman Knight is where he always is…on the wrong side of compassion and on the wrong side of history. But, we can’t give up trying.Your call might be the one that reaches critical threshold. So, call and say something like:
I’m shocked at what the President’s decision on DACA has done to our friends and neighbors and communities. Vote to stop the assault on these young people by including a DACA fix in the January 19 continuing resolution.
