|We are asking you to help us fill the streets again on Saturday, January 20 in Downtown LA to show our might and power for change! The focus for this year’s event is engaging and activating people to cast their vote in the November 2018 elections. We have seen change happening in the special elections that have taken place in the states of Oklahoma, New Hampshire, and Florida but we need to keep pushing and gaining momentum we begin 2018. So much is at stake.
First, we MARCH, then… we VOTE!
We know that there are many issues in our country that we need to deal with when it comes to voting…access, suppression, incarceration, hacking, and racism, just for starters. At our March on January 20 we will kick off an initiative by the Women’s March LA Foundation to partner with, and amplify the work of, community partners working to address these issues. But our immediate goal in 2018 will be to register voters, share information on ballot issues, and help people get to the polls on election day to cast their vote here in California and across the nation.
We are planning a day of inspirational speakers, amazing entertainment, voter registration and education stations….. and so much more. We will be announcing event updates as January 20th approaches so be sure to follow us on social media and say that you are coming on our Facebook Event Page and share it with your friends HERE!
The second announcement we have for you on this Giving Tuesday is that the Women’s March Los Angeles coffee table book, Hear Our Voice, Hear Our Story is available for pre-purchase! This book features personal stories and photos from the organizers of the march in Los Angeles and people that helped us fill the streets. The book is celebration of what we accomplished together in our city, the power of peaceful protest, and the kick-off of the resistance around the country. If you were there you’ll want a copy of this marking your place at this moment in history.
