Sorry for the late notice. This is just in. Tomorrow is the deadline for DACA renewal applications, and there will be a 10AM CHIRLA (Coalition for Humane Immigration Rights L.A.) rally/press conference at Knight’s SCV office 26415 Carl Boyer Dr./Santa Clarita. CHIRLA is at the forefront of struggle for DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) rights. Here is the press release I just received:
DACA RENEWAL CHANCE ENDS BUT SEEDS
OF ACTION FOR DREAM ACT SPROUT
|CHIRLA targets GOP Members of Congress seeking DREAM Act vote on day Trump Administration tries to bury hope for young immigrants.|
Los Angeles — On October 5, the day the Trump Administration arbitrarily designated as the deadline to file a renewal application for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA), the California Dream Network (CDN), and members of The California Table for Immigration Reform, hold simultaneous rallies in Orange County, Los Angeles, Central and Northern California, calling on GOP members of congress to vote on the DREAM Act.
The rallies take place simultaneously at the offices of Congress Representatives Cook, Denham, Knight, Nunes, and Royce at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 5, 2017.
“If the arbitrary and cruel deadline for young immigrants to renew has passed leaving thousands upon thousands of young immigrants without any protection from deportation, Members of Congress must be reminded they need to take action on the DREAM Act,” stated Angelica Salas, Executive Director for CHIRLA.
