DAA Indivisible: A Little Detour on Guns

I was going to post on 45’s Tax Scam today, but woke to the news that 58 are dead and over 500 injured in Las Vegas. I’m with Hillary when she says:  “Our grief isn’t enough.  We can and must put politics aside, stand up to the NRA, and work together to try to stop this from happening again.”  It is crazy that a bill to make it easier to put silencers on guns so that the source of gunfire can’t readily be detected is pending in Congress.  Here is what Credo says:

According to Newsweek, there have now been U.S. 273 mass shootings … in 2017 alone.

But instead of working to protect Americans from the gun violence epidemic, Republicans in Congress are planning to vote as soon as this week on two bills that would make Americans even more vulnerable to gun violence:

  • The SHARE Act (H.R. 3668), which would repeal restrictions on gun silencers and make it harder to detect the source of gunfire during mass shootings.
  • The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act (H.R. 38), which would undermine state efforts to protect residents from gun violence by forcing states to recognize concealed carry permits issued by any other state, no matter how lax the state’s permitting standards are.

We must forcefully demand that Congress reject both of these dangerous pieces of legislation and take immediate action to ban weapons of war, including assault weapons and large capacity magazines.

Thoughts and prayers are not enough. We need gun control now.

Congressman Knight needs to hear from us.  Call his office, have your friends call, and say something like:

After Las Vegas, a bill that repeals restrictions on gun silencers making it harder to detect the source of gun fire, is just plain crazy. Please vote no on HR 3668, as well as the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, HR 38. States with strict gun standards should be able to maintain them.
